Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—Favoriot, a leading IoT platform provider, successfully conducted a public training program, “IoT Fundamentals Using Favoriot Platform,” on February 25-26, 2025, at Pullman Hotel KLCC under its new department, Favoriot Academy. The training brought together participants from the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) and Move Technology, bridging the gap between academia and industry by providing hands-on experience in IoT development and implementation.
Strengthening IoT Knowledge for Academia and Industry
With the increasing adoption of IoT across various sectors, Favoriot’s training program aimed to equip participants with essential skills in IoT fundamentals, focusing on real-world applications. Faculty members from GMI explored how IoT can enhance education and research, while Move Technology, a system integrator, gained insights into leveraging IoT for business solutions and industry automation.

Key Learnings from the Training
The two-day session provided participants with a structured and interactive learning experience, covering:
- Understanding the IoT Ecosystem – Exploring how IoT devices, networks, and platforms work together to create smart solutions.
- IoT Connectivity and Communication – Learning about data transmission methods, including REST API and MQTT protocols.
- Hands-on with Favoriot IoT Platform – Setting up projects, applications, and dashboards for real-time monitoring and control.
- IoT Device Integration – Working with hardware such as sensors and microcontrollers to collect and process data.
- Data Visualization and Rule Management – Configuring dashboards and automated triggers for efficient IoT operations.
Through practical exercises, participants successfully built and tested IoT applications, enabling them to apply their knowledge in their respective fields.
Impact on Academia and Industry
The training enhances GMI faculty members’ ability to incorporate IoT into teaching and research, preparing students for careers in smart technologies. By integrating Favoriot’s platform into academic courses, institutions can provide students with industry-relevant skills, fostering innovation in IoT development.
For Move Technology, as a system integrator, the training provides the technical foundation to develop IoT-driven solutions for clients. The ability to configure, manage, and integrate IoT systems enhances their capacity to deliver smart solutions for industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and smart cities.
Favoriot’s Commitment to IoT Growth in Malaysia
Favoriot remains committed to expanding its IoT training programs to empower both academia and industry players with the skills needed to drive Malaysia’s digital transformation.
“We believe IoT will be a game-changer for education and industry. By equipping faculty members and system integrators with hands-on IoT skills, we aim to accelerate IoT adoption across sectors,” said Dr. Mazlan Abbas, CEO and Co-founder of Favoriot.
Following the success of this public training, Favoriot plans to organize more sessions throughout 2025, enabling universities, businesses, and system integrators to leverage IoT for greater efficiency, automation, and innovation.
