Cyberjaya, 23 August 2025 – A team of bright young innovators from Sekolah Seri Puteri, Cyberjaya, together with Universiti Malaysia Perlis, has made Malaysia proud by winning Gold Medal and the Special Award – Best Project (Engineering) at the Malaysia International Young Inventors Olympiad (MIYIO) 2025, held from 20–23 August.
Their winning project, VitalCare – Real-time Remote Patient Monitoring System, is a breakthrough IoT-based solution designed to continuously monitor patients who are bedridden, the elderly, and individuals recovering from chronic illnesses such as stroke or cancer.
The system integrates the Favoriot IoT Platform to securely log vital signs in the cloud, enabling real-time access, long-term storage, and historical trend analysis of patients’ health data. By tracking heart rate and oxygen levels through a MAX30102 sensor connected to an ESP32-CAM microcontroller, VitalCare detects abnormalities like bradycardia and tachycardia. Caregivers are instantly alerted via a Telegram bot, ensuring timely intervention.
With Favoriot powering its data backbone, the solution empowers caregivers with easy access—either through simple Telegram commands or directly via the Favoriot dashboard. This makes VitalCare practical, non-invasive, and cost-effective for home-based care, reducing hospital burden while enhancing patient safety and independence.
The award-winning team members are:
- Eryssa Nur Iman Mohamad Ezral (Form 4)
- Nur Zafeerah Shaharuddin (Form 4)
- Nur Alisha Dania Mohd Raziff (Form 4)
- Nurhafizah Kamaruddin (Teacher Advisor)
Their achievement not only highlights the potential of Malaysian youth in applying IoT for meaningful healthcare solutions but also demonstrates how Favoriot’s platform continues to play a vital role in shaping innovative projects for the future.
Congratulations to the VitalCare team for bringing home Gold and inspiring a healthier, smarter tomorrow!
